With the Synctera Use Case Explorer, watch Synctera's APIs come alive and connect with the Synctera Starter App for retail banking - a customizable codebase we’re giving away for free.

From there, you can drop the APIs into your code and your new [embedded financial use case] OR [innovative FinTech idea] OR [whatever it is you want to build] is up and running.

Why we built it

At Synctera, our mission is to be the fastest and easiest way to build the future of FinTech. Whether you’re a startup building an MVP or a large company rolling out embedded banking to thousands of customers, we want your journey with us to be amazing.

From the start, we’ve aimed to provide a great developer experience. Earlier this year, we saw an opportunity to unify some of the dynamics of building FinTech apps and embedded banking products:

1. Every FinTech/embedded banking use case requires multiple API calls to bring it to life
2. We have a diverse group of technical and non-technical people building with our platform
3. We’ve discovered that visual demos of our products and capabilities are very effective

So, we built a visual tool that would help our users understand how our APIs work not only on their own, but together, in order to create the most common use cases live in the Syncera Console. After all, seeing is believing!

In this post, we are #super-excited to share with you what we’ve built to make the first steps of your journey with Banking as a Service as intuitive and welcoming as possible: the Use Case Explorer.

Walking through the Use Case Explorer

When you sign up for a free account with Synctera, you’ll have access to your own sandbox, as well as Synctera’s newest learning resource, the Use Case Explorer.

Here, you will find the blueprints for building out use cases that might be similar to the FinTech app or embedded banking product you aim to build.

For example, you might be planning to build a closed-loop payments platform, or to issue virtual debit cards to your existing customers. When you see a use case that you’d like to explore, simply click it to access:

1. A list of the API calls required for the various components of the use case
2. A demo video of how the API call would appear in a mobile banking app
3. The response that the API call generates

What’s more, you can run the steps interactively, right in the Synctera Console. How cool is that?

Everything you create in the Use Case Explorer - including customers, accounts, cards, and more - is visible right away. When you press the “Run” button, the API call you see is being run live with your API key. Go ahead, open your browser’s web developer tools and see the request for yourself.

You’ll get fresh, random data every time you visit the Use Case Explorer. This makes it easy to see what has just happened. As you integrate a blueprint into your app, you’ll be following these exact same steps. Check it out in action in the video at the top of the blog. The app you see in the Use Case Explorer videos is a real app - It is a customer-facing banking app that uses Synctera’s APIs for a variety of banking use cases. It’s based on the Synctera Starter App for retail banking - the demo version you see here is for a fictitious FinTech we call $pace (we like space puns). 

You can try out the Synctera Starter App on your mobile web browser, and we’ve also got mobile versions that you can install on your own devices. Even better? The code is free to use and modify if you’re a Synctera customer.
